Soar as a
superfan!

Get in the game to root for Marquette—here are some tips for those who are looking to start their Golden Eagles fandom today.

How to be a fan

Check out this video with tips on how to best root for our Golden Eagles.

Marquette fans dressed in blue and gold

Dress the part.

Blue and gold are our colors, so know the Spirit Day dress code and make sure you’re dressed to win!

Marquette fans stand out in the crowd

Find your seat early. Don’t sit down.

Marquette fans are loyal and fashionably early. So make time to claim a seat, but don’t sit till the team scores — it’s tradition.

Be a good sport.

Marquette fans know how to have a good time, yet we also encourage good sportsmanship.
Be your best self while cheering on your team to victory!

We play with H.E.A.R.T.

Marquette women's basketball head coach Cara Consuegra outlines her five core values of the H.E.A.R.T.: Heart, Effort, Accountability, Respect and Toughness. Our student athletes and our fans embody these core values every day.

Remember to Pray.

Marquette Nation is 120,000 strong (did you know Dwyane Wade is a Marquette alum???). When the pregame Pray video is played, fans will finish off the spine-tingling “We are…” chant with “Marquette!”  “We-Are-Marquette!!”

The Thunderstruck clap

When this AC/DC song starts filling Fiserv, fans start an overhead clap, moving from right to left and back again. Make sure to start in the right direction and don’t stop clapping until tipoff.

Learn Ring Out Ahoya.

We’ve got the perfect video below to help you learn the lyrics to our fight song. What it won’t help you with is learning what “Ahoya” means ...

Sway away for our Hail Alma Mater song.

Put your arms around the shoulders of both of your seat neighbors and sway together while singing the Marquette anthem.

Magic fingers for free throws

When one of our players heads to the free-throw line, the student section gets their hands in the air and wiggles their fingers to encourage the ball into the net. (And distract the other team when it’s their turn.)

Fans at a Marquette Basketball game

Know your game.

Marquette has a strong tradition of basketball success and very knowledgeable fans who talk about “EGBs” and “skunks” and “kills.” To get up to speed, check out the Student Section 101 video below for some valuable lessons.

Be first-team ready with a student section class taught by Marquette men’s basketball players.
