ev. Thomas W. Neitzke, S.J., Ed.D., was elected to the Marquette University Board of Trustees in 2017. He serves as Senior Vice President and Special Assistant to the President at Loyola University Chicago. In this role he provides oversight for the Division of Student Development, University Marketing & Communication and the Rome Campus. He provides strategic leadership in planning major projects and advancing campus development initiatives outlined in the university’s master plan.
Father Neitzke previously served as Interim Vice President for Advancement at Loyola, leading the university’s development and alumni engagement efforts. He also served as Dean of Arrupe College, a two-year liberal arts program for students from diverse backgrounds with significant financial need. He holds a faculty appointment as a Clinical Associate Professor in the School of Education, where he teaches leadership courses and mentors future educational administrators.
Before coming to Loyola, Father Neitzke served as President of Creighton Preparatory School in Omaha, Neb. Prior to that, he was President of Jesuit Academy, a middle school serving young men from underserved communities in North Omaha.
Father Neitzke holds a doctorate in education from Creighton University, where his research focused on collaborative fundraising, partnerships between religious and secular nonprofits, and the unique challenges and opportunities of Jesuit education on the margins. He earned a master of divinity from Santa Clara University, a master’s degree in educational administration from the University of San Francisco and a bachelor’s degree in philosophy from Loyola University Chicago.
He is a current trustee at the University of Scranton, Loyola Academy, and the National Cristo Rey Network. He previously served on the boards of Seattle University, Marquette University High School, Georgetown Preparatory School, Loyola Academy, Brophy College Preparatory, Boys and Girls Club of the Midlands and Creighton Prep.
