Migrating from RefWorks to Zotero
Raynor Library's citation management support is transitioning from proprietary RefWorks to open-source Zotero. While both services offer faculty and students robust tools for tracking, organizing, and sharing research citations, Zotero is free and transportable when users move on from Marquette.
RefWorks will no longer be available through Raynor Library after August 31, 2025. You must download any data you wish to retain by that date.
Getting Help
If you have questions about exporting your data from RefWorks before the August 31 deadline or getting started with Zotero, these helps are available:
- Direct links to log in to RefWorks and download Zotero.
- In-person workshops: Librarian-led how-to sessions are scheduled in April and August.
- Online tutorials: Short, simple video demonstrations on moving your data from RefWorks and getting started with Zotero.
- Research guide: Librarian-created guide offering how-tos and and tips for making the transition to Zotero.
