Our Mission:
The mission of the Department of Mechanical Engineering is to immerse individuals in an active environment to cultivate broadly educated mechanical engineers who balance theory with practice for advancing knowledge, solving problems and serving society.

Tackle problems that matter
Our department offers an undergraduate major and minor in mechanical engineering to prepare students to solve problems across industries. You’ll soon learn the diverse work of mechanical engineering majors touches nearly every aspect of life — from mountainous earthmovers and microsurgical robots to today’s automobiles and tomorrow's spacecrafts.

Build expertise, serve the world
Our department offers graduate programs leading to the master of science, master of engineering and doctor of philosophy degrees in mechanical engineering. Course work and research may involve the broad fundamentals of mechanical engineering or may concentrate on energy systems, manufacturing systems and mechanical systems.
Solving global problems from the heart of Milwaukee
Faculty and students collaborate at Marquette to lead research that discovers new knowledge and advances technical solutions to serve communities around the globe. Our department leads research in energy systems, manufacturing systems and mechanical systems.
