Political Science
Jackie Sirovina is an Instructor of Political Science at Marquette University. She holds a Ph.D., M.A., and B.A. in Political Science from the University of Wisconsin–Milwaukee. Her research and teaching interests include refugees, migration, conflict, and international organizations.
She completed her doctoral dissertation, Refugee Choices and State Responses in Civil Conflicts: The Effect of Ethnicity on Refugee Choice of Asylum, Host State Intervention, and Refugee Returns (2025), which examines how ethnic and non-ethnic civil conflicts differentially shape refugee decision-making and state behavior across the displacement cycle, including asylum selection, intervention, and return.
In addition to teaching at Marquette University, Dr. Sirovina has taught at the University of Wisconsin–Milwaukee, the University of Wisconsin–Eau Claire, and Ripon College. Her teaching experience includes courses such as Introduction to International Relations, International Security, and European Politics. She has also assisted in leading the University of Wisconsin–Milwaukee’s UN Summer Seminar Program for multiple terms.
