Chris Gooding (Ph.D., Marquette University) is a theological ethicist who teaches courses
on race and theology, theology and economics, faith-based organizing, nonviolent civil
disobedience, and political theology. He is an active member of the Mennonite Church
USA, and has been involved in organizing for transformational justice and labor justice in
the city of Milwaukee for over a decade. He is also an active member of MICAH (Milwaukee
Inner-city Congregations Allied for Hope), UCW-WI (United Campus Workers-Wisconsin),
and Mennonite Action.
Dr. Gooding’s research focuses mostly on issues of theology and labor justice, with special
focus on the extreme form of labor exploitation that is human trafficking. He is the author of
Beyond Slavery: Christian Theology and Rehabilitation from Human Trafficking (Cascade
Books, 2023).
