Chemistry Department Student Organizations
CheMU is our undergraduate society, comprising Chemistry and Biochemistry / Molecular Biology majors, and anyone who just loves chemistry! Students have the option of becoming student affiliates of the American Chemistry Society (ACS), and our undergraduates regularly meet and plan activities, such as chemistry magic shows, social outings, panel discussions and much more!
CheMU Activities
- Construct a 3-D periodic table
- ACS General Chemistry and Organic study guide sales
- Panel discussion on Summer Research Programs
- Community Day of Service
- Bake and consume a cupcake periodic table
- Field trip to the Museum of Science and Industry in Chicago
- Chemistry Career Day
- Chemistry Faculty and Student Rock Climbing Event
- Liquid Nitrogen Ice Cream

The Quantum Club at Marquette University is a graduate student organization dedicated to exploring quantum mechanics, quantum chemistry, and quantum computing through both theoretical discussion and hands-on computational practice.
The club brings together undergraduate and graduate students, faculty, and researchers interested in modern quantum science and its applications. Our goal is to build a collaborative environment that bridges classroom learning with research-level ideas and emerging quantum technologies.
A distinctive aspect of the club is its focus on practical quantum computing experience, including the use of quantum simulators and real quantum hardware such as IBM Quantum and IQM systems.
Activities
The Quantum Club provides a forum for engaging with both foundational and applied topics in quantum science through talks, workshops, and collaborative discussion.
- Student-led research presentations in quantum mechanics and quantum computing
- Hands-on workshops in quantum programming using Qiskit and quantum hardware platforms
- Invited talks and seminars on quantum chemistry, quantum dynamics, and quantum information science
- Collaborative meetings fostering discussion and interdisciplinary exchange
Recent Events
- Inaugural Quantum Club Meeting with student presentations and club introduction
- Quantum Computing Workshop (hands-on introduction to quantum circuits and hardware execution)
- Research seminars on quantum molecular dynamics and quantum scattering
