The Student Affairs in Higher Education (SAHE) program offers a wide variety of graduate assistantships each year. Each position has a unique compensation package with a mixture of tuition credits and stipend amounts. Please continue to check back for updates and additions to our assistantship list.

Graduate Assistant for Marketing - AMU

The Graduate Assistant serves in an academic year appointment working approximately 20 hours per week and reports to the Assistant Director of the Alumni Memorial Union. The GA will primarily work in the Division of Belonging & Student Affairs Marketing office overseeing the project request process, managing social media, and supervising the student staff. While not necessary for the position, someone with an interest in graphic design, creativity, and social media would do well in this assistantship. The GA is responsible for staff development, social media planning, assessment, and collaboration with key partners to produce marketing materials for events across campus. The GA is expected to undertake all responsibilities in a manner that reflects the Catholic, Jesuit mission of the University.

Graduate Assistant for LGBTQ+ Initiatives

The Graduate Assistant for LGBTQ+ Initiatives serves in an academic year appointment working approximately 20 hours per week and reports to a staff member within the Office of Inclusion and Belonging. This individual is responsible for several ongoing and short-term projects, which may include educational, social programming and event staffing. The period of employment extends over the academic year and may include personnel or student training and development of office initiatives. The Graduate Assistant is expected to undertake all responsibilities in a manner that reflects the values of Marquette University and the Division of Belonging & Student Affairs.

Graduate Assistant for On Your Marq – Coaching and Peer Mentor Leadership Development

On Your Marq is a college success program designed to assist neurodivergent students in navigating the college landscape at Marquette University. Utilizing an interdisciplinary approach, formal and informal support includes weekly seminars, executive functioning coaching, mental health counseling, and peer mentors to aid students in developing academic, social, and independent living skills. The first two years of the program focus on the student’s transition to the rigors of academia. In the second two years of the program, On Your Marq works with students to identify strengths and skills to transfer to their career and life after college. Your unique knowledge and skills you are acquiring in your Student Affairs in Higher Education program would be an asset to the development and success of our program.

Graduate Assistant for Campus Recreation 

Responsibilities include working with the Associate Director of Campus Recreation and all Pro Staff to plan, organize, and administer all aspects of a comprehensive recreation program. Will need a general understanding of recreation on a college campus and a passion for the field.

Graduate Assistant for the Career Services Center (Career Advisor)

As a dedicated Career Advisor in our dynamic environment within the Lemonis Center for Student Success, you will play a pivotal role in fostering the success of college students by focusing on their career development. Your mission is to guide and empower students on their journey toward meaningful and fulfilling careers.

The Career Center at Marquette University is the centralized career office serving over 11,000 undergraduate and graduate students including alumni. Upon completion of continual comprehensive training the primary responsibilities are to provide career counseling, assist with career fairs, career programs, projects, and lead presentations/workshops for students on career related topics. This role will also include other duties befitting the applicant’s specific areas of interest within the field of Career Development.

Marquette Business Student Success Graduate Assistant

This assistantship will focus on student success aligned efforts offered by the Marquette Business Swift Student Center including student-focused communications, direct student advising (academic and career) and other projects based on needs and best practices. The Swift Student Center is home to the Business Career Center, Undergraduate Student Services and International Business Programs. This Graduate Assistant will support student-focused programming such as career education courses, mentoring programs and student communications, while also supporting new efforts that relate to the shared space and high-traffic, and first floor location in the building.

Graduate Assistant for Excellence in Leadership Program

The Graduate Assistant serves in an academic year appointment working approximately 20 hours per week and reports to the Associate Director of the Fotsch Innovation and Engineering Leadership Development (FIELD) Center in the Opus College of Engineering at Marquette University. This individual is responsible for several ongoing and short-term projects that advance the vision of innovation and leadership development in the college and across the University including, but not limited to, the Excellence in Leadership (E-Lead) Program.

Graduate Assistant for Community Service – Staff Manager and Events

The Graduate Assistant serves in an academic year appointment working approximately 20 hours per week and reports to the Coordinator for Community Service. This individual is responsible for working with staff, students, and community partners to develop intentional community service and social justice experiences that promotes a commitment to justice and community. This individual will serve as the Staff Manager; overseeing hiring, training, support, communitybuilding, and evaluation of student employees. The Graduate Assistant will also take a leadership role in Center for
Community Service events such as Milwaukee Excursions: Connect & Serve, Make a Difference Day, Marquette Community Day of Service, and Community Service Fairs, working closely with student leaders, student program assistants, and community partners. The Graduate Assistant is expected to undertake all responsibilities in manner that reflects the Catholic, Jesuit mission of the University as well as the principles of student development theory.

Graduate Assistant for the Academic Resource Center

The Graduate Assistant for the Academic Resource Center (ARC) will provide both direct service to students, as well as perform a variety of administrative duties related to the ongoing operations of ARC. This will include one-on-one academic coaching with students, academic programming, creating marketing materials, assisting with the MARQ 1030 Academic Recovery course, and carrying out duties as assigned by the Graduate Assistant’s supervisor – the Assistant Director of the Academic Resource Center.

Graduate Assistant for Student Conduct

The Graduate Assistant for Student Conduct supports the Office of Student Development in fostering a restorative, educational approach to student accountability. This position assists with student conduct administration, student conduct boards, and the integration of restorative justice and conflict education practices into the conduct system. The GA helps refine and assess the Conflict Education/Conflict Resolution case typing, develops creative and restorative sanctions, and supports the division’s efforts to cultivate community-based accountability aligned with Marquette’s Catholic, Jesuit mission.
