Biographical History
Sister Anna Koop opened the Denver Catholic Worker in 1978. In 2016, a fire destroyed the first of the Denver CW houses. A new four bedroom house was purchased and opened in 2018. In 2024, the Denver Catholic Worker House announced it would cease independent operation and merge with a local intentional community, the Angelica Village, citing the aging of the CW's workforce and absence of a younger generation to countinue the work..
Scope & Content
This collection is comprised of records that document the Denver Catholic Worker house's activities and its workers. It is arranged alphabetically by folder title. Most records are paper but there two electronic records (ER) folders containing PDFs. Of special note is relevant gmail correspondence that was exported from the house's gmail account and preserved as PDFs for the collection. Please note that if researching the peace demonstrations at Rocky Flats, one should cross-reference with the news clippings folder.
