Administrative History

Viva House is a Catholic Worker house founded in 1968 by Brendan Walsh and Willa Bickam. Viva house has provided services to the homeless and has been involved extensively in local activism regarding gentrification, war and armed conflict, the death penalty, and more. 

Scope & Content

This collection is comprised largely of correspondence between the co-founders of Viva House, community members, and other members of the Catholic Worker movement, newsclippings regarding Viva House and its community service and outreach, newsletters sent by Viva House to community members, and artwork by Willa Bickam. Please note that because of the nature of the collection, when researching certain topics, one may need to cross-reference with other folders:
