Jean Cujé Milwaukee Music Collection
Series 3: Individual collections
Subseries 1: Peter Roller oral history interviews

The Peter Roller oral histories are a collection of interviews that record memories of the Milwaukee music scene from the 1950s to the very early 2000s. Roller conducted the interviews in the Milwaukee area and Brooklyn, New York between 2000-2004. While the theme of every interview is 'garage bands' or amateur rock' n 'roll and related styles, the Milwaukee context results in a wide review of Milwaukee's social history. Socio-historical topics that appear in the course of the interviews include the Catholic Youth Organization (CYO); underage drinking; race relations; local music opportunities; youth entertainment events; German heritage; socio-economic boundaries; collegiates and greasers.
