New rankings released by U.S. News & World Report rated Marquette Physical Therapy Program as #1 in Wisconsin and #22 in the nation.


Graduate receives profession's highest student award

Leah Kern, a 2024 Marquette physical therapy alumna, has been named the recipient of the 2025 Mary McMillan Scholarship from the American Physical Therapy Association, marking the second year in a row a Marquette graduate has won the prestigious designation.

Dr. Allison Hyngstrom receives $3.2 million NIH grant

Dr. Allison Hyngstrom, chair and professor of physical therapy in the College of Health Sciences, is one of two principal investigators on the award. The grant will fund the study of muscle fatigue in stroke survivors and solutions to increase their muscle performance.  Read more

Physical Therapy professor awarded Department of Defense research grant

Dr. Kristi Streeter, assistant professor of physical therapy, is expanding her research on breathing after spinal cord injuries with a new grant from the U.S. Department of Defense. Read more. 


Neuro Recovery Clinic participates in Clinical Trial

The NRC is participating in the ASPIRE™ (Assessing non-invasive spinal Stimulation and PT/OT for motor Improvement Response with ExaStim) trial which is studying the use of the ExaStim device.  The ExaStim is a wirelessly-controlled neuromodulation system designed to deliver transcutaneous spinal cord stimulation (TSS). The study will evaluate the safety and effectiveness of ExaStim in combination with traditional rehabilitation therapy as an adjunct therapy for individuals living with upper extremity paralysis due to spinal cord injury (SCI).
