What is the Justice in Action Conference?

The Justice in Action Conference (JIA) is a one-day student-focused conference to explore your role in service, community and social change. JIA is a time to develop new skills and knowledge on social justice, foster civic dialogue, and challenge perspectives on social systems.

This year's theme is Solidarity in Action. Solidarity in Action embraces seeking justice within community and this encompasses a wide range of topics such as mutual aid, allyship, and education.

Keynote Speaker

Joanne Williams is a Film festival award winner for the documentary "The Exchange. In White America. Kaukauna & King 50 Years Later", which highlights an exchange program between Rufus King High School, a predominantly Black school, and Kaukauna High School, a predominantly white school, here in Wisconsin during the 60s. The students lived in each other's homes and attended each other's classes. The experience culminated in a play they performed together called "In White America". This year marks the 50th anniversary of the play. According to the website, "The film about the exchange will generate new conversations about ways to improve race relations through theatre, education, empathy, and optimism." The film was part of the Milwaukee Film Festival last fall.
