Program Length: Legacy Borrowers

For students who have received a Federal Direct Loan in their academic program before July 1, 2026, there is no change to the annual Federal Direct Unsubsidized Loan annual or aggregate borrowing limits while the student completes their program, up to a maximum of three years or the difference between the total length of the program below and the period of time the student has already completed, whichever is less. Graduate/Professional and parent PLUS borrowers will continue to be able to borrow up to the full cost of attendance, minus other financial aid, for this same time period. Once the allowable time period has been reached, new loan limits will apply and the Graduate PLUS loan will no longer be available.

Please note that the list below pertains to current program standards. Some students may be subject to different standards depending on their year of entry. Credits accepted for transfer may count toward time completed in a student’s program.
