A cultural immersion experience

The Indigenous Solidarity Immersion visits tribal nations in Wisconsin or the upper Midwest. Participants are introduced to the history, culture, sovereignty, and contemporary lifeways of our hosts.

The next immersion is in late spring 2025.

Travel dates: April 10-12, 2025

Activities

Each iteration of the trip will vary. Activities may include the following:

• Meet with tribal elders, leaders, and community members
• Visit tribal offices, museums, businesses, and community centers
• Learn about topics such as soverignty, peace treaties, land and water rights, environmental justice, health equity, language preservation, and more

Cost

This trip is highly subsidized for student participants. Students selected to participate in the program are expected to pay a participation fee to help cover costs associated with transportation, lodging, and activity fees. The amount of the student fee for 2025 is $100. If additional financial assistance is necessary, please indicate so in your application.

Application process

All Marquette students are welcome to apply regardless of class standing or program (undergraduate, graduate, or doctoral). Space on the trip is limited, but we will accommodate as many applicants as possible.

The application process has two-steps:

Step 1: Complete application

Step 2: Complete interview

Applicants will be invited to participate in a 30-minute interview. This will include discussion of a short reading and short video, which will be provided.
