Welcome to Marquette University's website focused on Academic Integrity. This website is designed to provide information and resources for students, faculty and staff who are interested in learning more about academic integrity. The policies and procedures are written up in detail in the Undergraduate and Graduate Bulletins.
As an institution of higher education, Marquette University is committed to developing the whole person, and academic integrity in all its forms, is an explicit value of the university community including students, faculty and staff. The development and practice of academic honesty and integrity, both inside and outside the classroom, are expectations for all members of the university community.
As a part of supporting integrity on campus, incoming students will recite the Honor Pledge at New Student Convocation. Additionally, a mandatory online tutorial on academic integrity has been developed for undergraduate students and a separate one has been developed for graduate students. Students are required to complete the relevant tutorial early in their first semester at Marquette University (October 1 for fall admission and March 1 for spring admission). Failure to complete the tutorial will result in a registration hold.
For faculty considering submission of an Academic Misconduct Report Form
- We encourage all instructors to speak with their students about potential allegations before submission in order to have the fullest undrstanding of the situation possible.Ignatian pedagogy is founded on person-to-person presence.
- If your allegation includes suspicion of unattributed use of generative software, please ensure that your report includes explicit rationales with specific examples of what you suspect to be unattributed material.
- Please note: "AI detectors" offer both false positives and false negatives, so their findings as evidence of misconduct are less reliable in the absence of other evidence.
