Description

Digital Programs graduate student assistants work alongside library staff to expand and maintain Marquette University’s institutional repository, e-Publications@Marquette. The repository brings together Marquette University scholarly output—dissertations and theses, journal articles, conference proceedings, presentations—to preserve faculty, staff and student scholarship.

Responsibilities

  • Assist staff with tasks associated with the growth and maintenance of Marquette’s institutional repository  
  • Reformat documents in Word, PDF and other formats 
  • Operate various scanning devices, including Epson flatbed scanner and Indus Bookscanner  
  • Locate faculty publications, both online and in print, within the library catalog, library shelves, other online databases, and through other libraries via Interlibrary Loan 
  • Describe materials for the online repository 
  • Verify document citation information  
  • Create descriptive records 
  • Help develop and implement projects to enhance and improve the repository 
  • Track projects within an Excel spreadsheet 
  • Upload material to the online repository 

Qualifications

Preferred qualifications include:  

  • Experience with MS Office including intermediate familiarity with Excel and Adobe Acrobat 
  • Knowledge of basic research techniques (catalog and database searching, citing sources) 
  • Strong communication skills 
  • Strong editing/writing skills 
  • Detail oriented 
  • On the job training is provided
