Research Interests

Dr. Piacentine’s program of research focuses on health promotion. As a qualitative expert and team scientist, she collaborates with interdisciplinary researchers from multiple institutions. Her work seeks to promote health by initiating and maintaining exercise as a health practice, and by implementing interpersonal violence screening and support as a clinical intervention. Her most recent exercise studies include recreational dance to improve health for people with multiple sclerosis and the impact on health of prior participation in collegiate varsity sports. Dr. Piacentine’s research about interpersonal violence focuses on improving healthcare provider knowledge and practice for earlier detection of people at risk for injury. Her primary program of research focuses on the life experiences of people living with chronic conditions and the effect of exercise on their health and well-being.
