Faculty Director for Research: Dr. Jacob C. Capin, PT, DPT, PhD, MS

Blending science and sport, Dr. Jacob Capin is a clinician-scientist and assistant professor of physical therapy at Marquette University. As a former NCAA Division I basketball player, his work is shaped by both high-level competition and experience rehabilitating athletes after traumatic knee injuries. Dr. Capin directs the Life After Sport Trajectories (LAST) Lab, developing lifespan-focused strategies to improve athlete health. His academic training spanning psychology, anatomy, physical therapy, and biomechanics fosters collaborative, cross-disciplinary research. Outside academia, Jacob is an elite triathlete with Roka Multisport, four-time USA Triathlon National Champion, five-time IRONMAN 70.3® winner, and certified coach. As faculty director of the AHPRC, Dr. Capin prioritizes interdisciplinary partnerships and broad engagement, advancing a thriving, innovative hub for research on health and human performance across all ages and abilities. |

Director, HPAC: Toni D. Uhrich, M.S., EP-C

Since its opening in 2016, Toni has been the Director of the Human Performance Assessment Core (HPAC), a free-standing, fee for service, state of the art exercise physiology lab located in Cramer Hall in the Program in Exercise Science. The HPAC also serves as a teaching facility and was a proto-type for the AHPRC. The HPAC serves the community, local teams, and scientists across campus and the broader academic community. Toni has been teaching at Marquette for 24 years, 3 of them full time and supervises interns in the HPAC and AHPRC. She recently started an Exercise is Medicine – On Campus program at Marquette. Toni’s primary research interests are in Exercise as Medicine and injury prevention. She is thrilled to be part of the AHPRC Team. |
